Seeking Glue-free and Plastic-free closure of paper packaging |
| |
We are looking for a technology to seal paper packaging materials (paper only with no plastic coating) without using traditional glues or any other additive. For a sustainable packaging application, we're looking for a technology to seal or crimp kraft paper without using glue or plastic coating applied on the paper. Ideally, we want to seal 100% untreated paper without adding any other chemicals. Our preferred solution would be a folding of the packaging material |
Seeking Rapid Substance Detection in Inspection and Supply Chain |

Procter & Gamble is a global leader in innovation, products and services for consumer goods in categories like Beauty (Hair and Skin Care), Fabric & Home Care, Baby Care, Oral Care, Health Care, Family Care, and Feminine Care. We focus on designing and manufacturing superior products, packages and experiences that are safe to consumers, the environment and supply chain partners. P&G undertakes significant efforts to analyze compositions of raw materials and finished products and packages from development to manufacturing through the supply chain. NEED DESCRIPTION For most substances we lack rapid, easy-to-use yet precise detection devices/ methods for inspections at P&G operations (e.g. material income, manufacturing control, cleaning of equipment) and at our supply chain partners that can be used by workers and do not require laboratory environment/ standards |
Seeking technologies to reduce GHGs in all aspects of the supply chain and manufacturing process. |
| |
PepsiCo is committed to reducing GHG emissions from seed to shelf. We are looking to engage with partners who can assist us in our goal of reducing GHG 20% by 2030 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. As new technologies emerge, efficiencies will be gained and PepsiCo aims to remain at the forefront of best practices in the food and beverage industry. PepsiCo is seeking technologies to reduce GHGs in all aspects of the supply chain and manufacturing process. Solutions may be in one or more of the following areas: • Agriculture – sustainable farming and the reduction of GHG intensive fertilizers • Manufacturing – adopting energy efficient manufacturing processes; novel methods for utilizing waste; use of renewable thermal energy at scale • Packaging – alternative packaging materials and formats that reduce GHGs • Distribution – technologies to assist in the efficiency of our company-owned and third party fleet |
Device to determine the food shelf-life |
| |
The Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) has designed a device to test the food oxidation, which applies real conditions of storage and transport combining light, temperature and dimensions of the device. This device allows determining the oxidative stability of the samples within a period of not more than one month, applying mild temperatures far below than the high temperatures commonly applied in Rancimat. Food enterprises interested in the utility model are searched to develop and market the compartment. |
Soy-Based Epoxy Alternatives to BPA and Similar (Hazardous) Industrial Feedstocks |
| |
Airable is developing a series of bio-based epoxy alternatives to hazardous industrial feedstocks, such as bisphenol-A (BPA), whose pervasiveness raises health concerns. Airable’s innovative bio-based chemicals are derived from soybean oil and use polyketonate functionality to grant reactivity similar to traditional aliphatic epoxies. Our environmentally friendly products may be formulated into adhesives, coatings, and composites for industrial and consumer applications. |
Image processing method for glaucoma detection and computer program |

We have developed a new algorithm for ordering anterior chamber OCT images in such a way that it is possible to classify them, in a fully unsupervised manner, in meaningful groups according to relevant features. We have tested the algorithm with a large set of images classified by two expert ophthalmologists, and with a larger set of annotated images. We have verified that the separation in the different classes defined by the ophthalmologists (closed, narrow, open, and wide open_ figure 6) is similar when using the manually extracted features, or when using the features that are returned by the unsupervised algorithm (View figures). Therefore, the abstract features generated by the algorithm provide novel tools for assessing OCT images of the anterior chamber. They can be used for direct classification of the images and, furthermore, they can be linked to established quantities used for characterizing diseased eyes (like chamber depth, iris-corneal angle) resulting in an automatic detection system. As the algorithm is fully unsupervised, it can be easily automated and set up in OCT imaging systems to aid technicians and doctors in an early diagnosis. The two main advantages of the algorithm demonstrated here over previous works are that it doesn’t need any ground truth or gold standard for training, and it does not rely on specific landmarks; thus, it can analyze images in which relevant landmarks are not visible or not easy to locate. |
